From the depths of our hearts, we are truly grateful for your warm welcome back, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. When we first opened our doors, we never anticipated being such a significant hit in the community, nor did we fully comprehend how much you missed us during our absence. It has been a journey filled with challenges, including some growing pains along the way, but through it all, we believe we've made meaningful strides in enhancing our service, improving our quality, and increasing our efficiency. Our journey of growth and learning continues as we strive to improve every aspect of our establishment. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this path together!
We are thrilled to share some exciting updates for September that we believe you will love! First and foremost, look forward to our newly designed website, which means you can order online. Additionally, we are introducing a Happy Hour to brighten your afternoons, and we are excited to announce that DoorDash will be available soon, making it easier than ever to enjoy your favorite meals from the comfort of your home. Don’t forget to save the date for September 12th, when we’ll host the highly anticipated Iowa State vs. Iowa Game watch event! It’s shaping up to be an exciting day full of friendship, friendly rivalry, and plenty of fun, and we’re looking forward to celebrating together!

Founded in 1978 by Patrick Orlondo, Orlondo's began its journey near the Drake area and has proudly served the South Side community for an impressive 45 years. However, we faced a challenging period when we had to close the doors in 2019 due to health issues. This closure left a void in the hearts of many, but inspired by his uncle's legacy, Robert Felice, affectionately known as Bobby, decided to revive this cherished establishment in the Des Moines area—a notion that Pat wholeheartedly supported.
Today, Robert is the proud owner of Orlondo's, and he is joined by his dedicated wife, Angelina, who serves as the General Manager, along with their enthusiastic children. Together, they embody the spirit of family and community that Orlondo's has always represented.
This truly is a family-run operation, and we are excited to introduce you to the dedicated members of our team:
Timbo is hard at work in the kitchen, ensuring that each pizza is cooked to perfection with care and attention to detail.
Sydney serves as a friendly server, always ready with a smile, and she also heads our social media committee, keeping you updated on all our happenings.
Cash skillfully rolls out the ideal pizza, making sure that every bite is delicious and satisfying.

We’re excited to announce that you can now call or conveniently order online at www.orlondospizzagrimes.com. We’re ready to take your order for those nights when you can’t come in for dinner, ensuring that you can still enjoy our delicious offerings from the comfort of your home.

Additionally, we are hosting a Happy Hour from Tuesday - Sunday, from 3 PM to 5 PM, where you can enjoy $1.00 off your favorite drafts and $1.00 off onion rings for a tasty snack. Weekends are the perfect time to come in, grab a refreshing beer, and cheer for your favorite college football teams, especially the Iowa and Iowa State teams, both of which we proudly support. If you ask Bobby, he’ll tell you we’re Iowa fans, but don’t worry—our staff is a delightful mix of Iowa and Iowa State supporters, along with some fans of other big teams. Look out for our staff wearing their colors on Saturdays, so you’ll know who everyone is cheering for! It’s all part of the fun and excitement that makes our establishment a vibrant gathering place.
Exciting Competition for a Cause
Bobby has a passion for sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes. In light of this, our staff brainstormed ways to engage both our team and our customers while also giving back to the community. We came up with a fantastic idea: our talented chefs, Jacob, the creative mind behind the Kinnick Game Winner, and Jake, who developed the Spicy CY, will go head-to-head in a friendly competition that mirrors the excitement of a CY Hawk Game. This competition is not only a way to showcase our culinary talents but also a fun way to rally our community around a common cause.
Here’s How It Works:
Choose your favorite sandwich to help us determine which one is the winner in this culinary showdown. We'll be tracking sales leading up to the big game, and once the victor is announced on September 12th, a portion of the sales will be donated to the respective teams' foundations, making your choice not only delicious but also impactful.
Here’s how the donations will break down:
If Iowa wins, we’ll donate 10% of profits to the Children’s Hospital and 5% to the Junior Cyclone Club, supporting two great causes in the process.
If the Cyclones triumph, they will receive 10%, while Iowa will receive 5%, ensuring that both teams benefit from this friendly competition.

When our beer distributors heard about our initiative, they were excited to contribute and introduced us to Tiger Hawk Draft Beer and Cyclone Gold, which we’re thrilled to include in our offerings. So, mark your calendars! We’ll be open all day on September 12th, with plenty of games to watch. But at 6 PM, it’s all about the Hawks and Clones to see whether it remains the Hawkeye State or becomes Cyclone State! Join us for an unforgettable day of food, fun, and football as we celebrate the spirit of competition and community!
